What to look for when purchasing a new garage door:
- 24 gauge door or thicker (less chance of cracking)
- ball bearing nylon rollers (quieter and last longer)
-14 gauge hinges or thicker
- warranty info
What not to buy:
If you are installing a new garage door, I strongly suggest not putting in a Wayne Dalton foam core door or a Clopay pinch proof door. Wayne Dalton and Clopay both sell quality doors but not these models. Clopay's pinch-proof door design has hinges which fail on a regular basis. The Wayne Dalton door also has thin hinges and the foam-core door has no steel supports. Make sure you check on length of warranty when purchasing a new garage door.
